During the month of April, 2018, I was Writer in Residence at the Library! at Bown Crossing, where I spent three days writing on Vox Poplar--an interactive art installation created by Janet Zweig. This was a collaboration with The Cabin and the City of Boise, and I was honored to be a part of the ongoing "live" project. I wrote three short stories during my residency--Free Time for the Old Buck, Fork, and Bones--on an old Smith-Corona fed by a huge scroll of poplar paper. The stories revolved around occupations, relationships, and hobbies. I'd never written on display in front of library patrons, or anyone else for that matter, and the experience was genuinely unique, creative, and challenging.

"The Geometry of Ice-Cream" was written after Stephen Shultz's oil on canvas "Axis" for the Tall Tales exhibition collaboration between the Boise Art Museum (BAM) and The Cabin (a Center for Readers and Writers). My story will be featured, along with eight other local Boise writers, from April, 2016 to January, 2017. All nine of us were asked to write a story or poem based off of nine different works of art owned by the Boise Art Museum. On May 12, 2016, I'll be reading "The Geometry of Ice-Cream" at the Boise Art Museum with other Tall Tales writers.
